About Tamer

First appearance:
May 11, 1973—Cairo, Egypt

Where I’ve lived:
Cairo, Egypt; Oxford & Jackson, Mississippi; Lake Charles, Louisiana; Murray, Kentucky; Iowa City, Iowa and Twin Cities, Minnesota

Family:
I am the oldest of Mustafa and Ebtsam (“Sam”) Selim’s three children. Coincidently, Nancy, Sharief and I are each 7 years apart, which gives a chance to be better in tune with generations X, Y and Z! While both my Mom and Dad come from large families, they all live in Egypt. I hope to soon make my first trip back to Egypt since we moved to the US so that I can finally meet them.

College:
I got my Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1995 from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. GO HAWKEYES!

Career:
I have the best boss in the world – myself! For almost two years now, I have been working as an independent consultant working with various clients with architecting and developing applications that help to run their business.

Favorite Color:
Blue

Favorite Musical Artist:
Waaaaay too many to list, but the list would definitely have to start with the Artist Formerly and Once Again Known As Prince

Drives:
My passion for cars began far before I ever owned one. My first car was a troubled Dodge Shadow. Since then I’ve had 2 Eagle Talons, 2 Jeep Grand Cherokees, a Mazda Miata, a BMW Z3, and BMW X5. I now own a 2002 Honda S2000 & a 2003 Nissan Murano.

Hobbies & Interests:
Photography, Racquetball, Biking

On His TiVo:
Six Feet Under, Monster House, The Daily Show, The Screen Savers, Law & Order: CI, Dr. Phil (hey, I’m a sensitive fella!)

Perfect Day:
I’m not sure that there’s a formula for a perfect day. I think it would just have to contain a few of my favorite elements: A top-down drive on a crisp fall day, a photo-shoot outing of interesting scenes and people, the Sunday paper and a Caribou coffee, a Hawkeye or Viking football victory, and/or a BBQ with friends and family.
